Could you think of nice template for adding games.. homepage, game rate, or whatever.. nice neat table or something.. ;) -- --Joe 13:44, 21 Jan 2005 (CST)

I will try. You to can make templates.

A feature or idea I have been thinking over is: I would like to have some pages/area where errors from wine running in a terminal are explained... any ideas? --Josephblack 05:07, 7 Feb 2005 (CST)

That would be great...... because I get a lot of errors. It would be nice if we started posting bug reports too, once we find some that is.

-- Jason 11:18, 7 Feb 2005 (CST)

Even if we list a few of the terminal messages/errors - so people have a better idea of what is important - that probably would help a lot of people.

Do you have a preference for how the page/pages for troubleshooting wine/wine error messages are to be organized ? --Josephblack 21:06, 8 Feb 2005 (CST)

Not at all.... it is a Wiki after all. Everyone can change and add to it if they want.

Thanks for dcom review. Can you add some sort of general disclaimer:[1]? -thanks--Josephblack 00:49, 20 Feb 2005 (EST)

damn, have you read this Microsoft genuine downloads looking for wine

--Joe

Oh joy....... loads of fun for the wine hackers now.

Temporary 401 Error

When editing, for a short period I kept getting 401 errors. Please delete the orphaned page that was made during that time. It seems ok now.--Josephblack 02:48, 28 Feb 2005 (EST)

Ok, I think the server was having Database errors. It maybe fixed now. -- Jason 13:23, 28 Feb 2005 (EST)

Thanks, that fixed it. The page works fine now.

Update: Whups, just hit one on the installing_Wine. The other pages are ok.--Joe 21:25, 1 Mar 2005 (EST)

Update: Jason, I have been trying to sperate the Installing_Wine page into a different wiki page for each distro but I cant successfully edit this page. If you get a chance, could you try making an edit to that page (i.e. try adding an introduction title)?

(hmm. Just a suspicion, but there may be a pattern here - it only seems to happen on large pages) --Joe 04:10, 3 Mar 2005 (EST)

Update: I tried moving Mandrake to a seperate page - seems OK now. Thanks.--Joe 18:04, 3 Mar 2005 (EST)

Tables

Hello there Jason, I was wondering... How do you create the tables that you use here at Wine-Wiki.org? Where can i learn how to make the tables that are used here?

Thanx, --Zoohouse 21:46, 1 Mar 2005 (EST)

@Joe

I tested to see If I could get the error..... but it never showed. I will keep testing.

@Zoohouse

What do you mean by tables? Can you show me so I know what you are talking about.

-- Jason 15:29, 3 Mar 2005 (EST)

Documentation license

Just wondering... Can the wine guys freely copy anything from the wiki, for their official docs?

Yes, as long as it stays under the GNU Free Documentation License, anyone can use it per se. It would be nice if they linked back to http://www.wine-wiki.org for updates on it. Right now I'm trying to get some money together to get Wine-Wiki.org it's own server.

-- Jason 18:28, 3 Mar 2005 (EST)

hmm. $$. Common problem. Anyone at your university/campus willing to support your efforts/lend a server? Oh, and just letting you know next week - for a couple to weeks, my available time will drop significantly, but I will still be around. Thanks for the wiki.--Joe 01:26, 4 Mar 2005 (EST)

Problems with the Wiki

I can't edit Draft_Wine_Ragnarok_Online, it gives a 403 Forbidden error... What's wrong ?

Update on Problem

I looks like it does like large postings. Let me test some more. I'm having the problem, I'm going to see if my host can check the database for errors.

-- Jason 12:35, 4 Mar 2005 (EST)

Ok, I hope you'll get a hand on the problem. :)

Btw, maybe could we create a new "Tip" page about DirectX 9 and work in progress in this area

--ThE TemPLaR 06:47, 6 Mar 2005 (EST)

Occasionally I would prefer email to a wiki post. Do you mind mail? --JoeB 21:32, 6 Mar 2005 (EST)

I don't :). Tell me when you prefer an e-mail about the updates of a subject.

About my Howto, I'll try to split it in multiple pages, with a summary in the first page and a menu at the top, like : "Introduction - Installation - Updating - Troubleshooting - Links". It should be more clear and easier to upload and, by the way, easier to maintain.

--ThE TemPLaR 06:30, 7 Mar 2005 (EST)

x86_64

Gentoo x86_64 has been updated on the winedeveloper page [2]. The page installing wine - it still says it cant be done. Recently a patch was applied that may have changed this. This is just a heads up, so if you can find someone else on the list who knows Gentoo, and has the time - they can investigate & update.

ps 404 problem seems gone now. What magic did you weave? :-) --JoeB 23:08, 5 Mar 2005 (EST)

I'm still geting errors on large pages... maybe it's a database call-to or posting problem. Hmmmm.....

-- 68.216.52.149 16:15, 6 Mar 2005 (EST)

E-Mail is good to me too.... I get back to e-mails very fast, unless I'm at school or sleeping.

Howto Templates

ThE TemPLaR mentioned: About my Howto, I'll try to split it in multiple pages, with a summary in the first page and a menu at the top, like : "Introduction - Installation - Updating - Troubleshooting - Links". It should be more clear and easier to upload and, by the way, easier to maintain. --ThE TemPLaR 06:30, 7 Mar 2005 (EST)

Good stuff. This has grown into a good format for the Howto series. How do we set up a template with this for new HowTo's? So far, they all seem to suit this format of Introduction, Installation, Troubleshooting, and Links (with only a few exceptions).--JoeB 05:18, 9 Mar 2005 (EST)

I was thinking about making subpages and I tried to find some informations on wikipedia on this subject but it seems to be a pretty controversial subject.

About the templates, maybe we should move HOWTO to HOWTO:Page ? Then offering a template to people beginning a HOWTO: page. Now, we should look for documentation on the Wikipedia site on howto create a template for new pages.

--ThE TemPLaR 10:33, 9 Mar 2005 (EST)

Vandels

(copied from InstallShield) I think that we should warn users that everyone can modify the page at any moment so there will be no "final" state so it can't be 'fully' trusted and that's why they should always verify their sources. said The Templar.

Hmm. this has happened a few times now-I guess it is a child. How do we deal with this - do we block the user doing the changes, should we move to only registered users?

I like The Templar's idea.--JoeB 20:00, 11 Mar 2005 (EST)

I can protect the page.... or we can move to registed users only, but that kills a wiki in a way. -- Jason 00:34, 12 Mar 2005 (EST)

I suspect you are right, a disclaimer is best. I have been using this one (borrowed from another wiki):

Jason - Please consider adding this, or something like this to the disclaimer page.
